Research Therapist [Temp - Part Time (Zero Hour) Occupation Therapy]
Responsibilities
Works independently in consultation with the Research Therapy Manager and PI to oversee the day-to-day activities of a research trial in accordance with Good Clinical Research Practice (GCP). Conducts trials from startup to closeout, including protocol coordination (screening, recruiting, enrolling, consenting), feasibility planning, data management, data analysis, and preparation for monitoring visits. Ensuring all study procedures are conducted according to the protocol and applicable regulations. Trains research staff, supervises staff and oversees clinical trials from start-up to closeout. Develops and/or contributes to standard operating procedures and processes. Attends and engages in leadership meetings, represents TJU internally and externally. Utilizes license to evaluate and/or provide intervention to subjects in alignment with research protocols. Uses clinical reasoning skills and good judgment when interacting with subjects.
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of a clinical trial in accordance with Good Clinical Research Practice (GCP)
- Prepares and submits all materials for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory bodies as required by the protocol to ensure compliance in a timely fashion
- Performs regular quality control assessments to ensure that clinical trial data is collected and stored per GCP
- Obtains informed consent and supports recruitment and enrollment into clinical trials
- Provides therapy evaluations and interventions in alignment with study protocol
- Collects and documents clinical information (data) from study participants
- Data management, including but not limited to data collection, organization, maintenance, and analysis
- Assesses, synthesizes and applies the literature to their clinical and research practice
- Utilizes tools and techniques to administer safe therapeutic interventions and trainings of subjects
- Assists with the dissemination of research findings
- May provide clerical and technical support to ensure adherence to research protocols and quality of information received
- Assists with staff orientation of clinical and research skills
- Trains and supervises research and clinical staff on the proper procedures for conducting a clinical trial per GCP
- Completes education, teaching and professional activities commensurate with position
- Supports manager with ongoing departmental operations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
SLP: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
OT: Bachelor's Master's or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program
PT: Bachelor's Master's or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Program
AND
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years clinical or research experience or Doctorate Degree with 1 year of experience; Research experience preferred.
SLP: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology required. CPR certification required.
OT: Valid state license in Occupational Therapy. Valid certification from the National board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required. CPR certification required.
PT: Valid state license in Physical Therapy. CPR certification required.
